Cross-chain atomic swaps
in your browser.

BasicSwap Web brings the protocol to the websites and web wallets you already use. They build it into their own pages, so you can swap from a browser tab with nothing to install, while your keys stay in your own wallet.

Not released yet. Until it launches, Desktop has the same swaps, and Mobile is coming soon too.

how it works

A swap in a browser tab.

  1. step 1

Open a site with it built in

Go to a website or web wallet that runs BasicSwap. There's nothing to install and nothing to sync.

  2. step 2

Pick an amount and an offer

Enter what you want to swap and the address to receive at, then take an offer from the shared order book.

  3. step 3

    Let the chains settle it

Both coins lock on their own chains, and the swap completes there. Keep the tab open until it's done.

what web gets you

The swaps you know,
without the setup.

  • 01

Nothing to install, on any computer

The swap screens work as soon as the page loads, on Windows, macOS or Linux. There's no node to run and nothing to keep updated.

  • 02

    Your keys stay with you

The site shows you the swap, but it never holds your coins. Your keys stay in your own wallet the whole time, and each swap settles on the two blockchains.

  • 03

One order book with Desktop and Mobile

Every site that adds BasicSwap joins the same shared order book as Desktop and Mobile, so you meet more traders and have a better chance at a good price.

trust

What a website can and can't do.

A site with BasicSwap built in runs the screens you swap on, while the swap itself runs on the two blockchains.

The site

  • Show you the offers on the shared order book
  • Run the swap screens and walk you through each step
  • Ask you to approve the swap from your wallet

Your wallet

Your coins and keys stay here. The site can't hold them at any point, and nothing moves without your approval.

The two blockchains

Once both sides lock, the chains enforce the terms. The site can't change them.

Questions about Web.

01

When does BasicSwap Web launch?

There's no date yet. We'll announce it on this page when BasicSwap Web goes live.

02

What is BasicSwap Web?

BasicSwap Web brings BasicSwap, the decentralized exchange for cross-chain atomic swaps, to your web browser. You trade directly with another person from a browser tab, with nothing to install or sync, and the two blockchains settle the swap. It runs the same protocol as BasicSwap Desktop and Mobile.

03

Is BasicSwap Web safe to use in a browser?

BasicSwap Web never holds your coins, and every swap settles on the two blockchains under the same rules as BasicSwap Desktop. What you do rely on is the site serving BasicSwap's real code, as with any web wallet. If you'd rather not rely on that, Desktop runs the code on your own machine.

04

Do I need an account or KYC to use BasicSwap Web?

No. BasicSwap has no accounts and no identity checks, so a swap needs nothing but your wallet. If a website asks you to sign in, that's for its own services, and the swap itself doesn't depend on it.

05

What are the fees on BasicSwap Web?

BasicSwap's protocol charges no fee. You pay the ordinary network fee on each of the two chains, and the price is whatever the offer you take sets.

06

Which coins will BasicSwap Web support?

BasicSwap Web runs the same protocol as Desktop and Mobile, so it draws on the same list of coins, and its offers share one order book with them. The coin table on the Desktop page lists every coin and pair BasicSwap supports today.

07

Can I swap Bitcoin to Monero with BasicSwap Web?

Not yet. BasicSwap Web hasn't launched, and today you swap Bitcoin for Monero with BasicSwap Desktop. Bitcoin to Monero atomic swaps explains how that trade settles and how to do one.

08

How is BasicSwap Web different from an instant swap website?

An instant swap website takes your coins and sends you others from its own reserves, so it holds your funds in between and can freeze them or ask for ID. BasicSwap Web never takes your coins. You trade with another person, and the two chains settle the swap between your wallets.

09

What can I use until BasicSwap Web launches?

BasicSwap Desktop swaps every supported coin and pair today, on your own computer. BasicSwap Mobile is coming to the Litecoin Nexus Wallet on iOS and Android.

until web launches

Swap today with BasicSwap Desktop.

BasicSwap Web is still in development. The same atomic swaps already run on your own computer with BasicSwap Desktop, and BasicSwap Mobile is coming to the Litecoin Nexus Wallet.
