A cross-chain DEX
for atomic swaps,
without middleman.
Swap cryptocurrencies peer-to-peer and on-chain. BasicSwap is the decentralized exchange where you meet other traders to settle atomic swaps directly. Trustless by cryptographic guarantee, not by promise.
Atomic swaps made easy.
Crypto removed intermediaries from sending money. Trading is the last place they still stand between you and the other party.
Atomic swaps solved this in theory, but they're complex to use on their own.
BasicSwap makes them usable, with a distributed order book and an open protocol where traders meet directly across chains, with no custodian, no account, and no one taking a cut. Cross-chain trading, finally ordinary.
What you get back.
Fully non-custodial
You stay in control of your keys at every step of the swap. They never leave your local device. No bridge, no third-party custodian, no temporary loss of custody.
On-chain settlement
Each swap is executed and settled by the underlying blockchains themselves. No off-chain promises, no liquidity pool risk, no intermediary chain or token.
Zero protocol fees
The BasicSwap protocol takes no cut. You pay only the on-chain network cost of each transaction.
No account
Launch the client, set up your wallet, and you're trading. No signup, no forms, no delays. Nothing personal is stored, so no breach can ever expose you.
Private by design
Two layers of privacy. With no central operator, no one logs your trades. Orders move through encrypted peer-to-peer messaging, optionally over Tor. On-chain, adaptor signatures make every swap indistinguishable from a regular transaction.
Distributed order book
The order book is built and maintained automatically by the network's nodes. No central matcher to throttle, censor, or prioritize some offers over others. No bot can front-run your trades.
Three primitives that make it possible.
Adaptor signatures
A single cryptographic operation binds both sides of a cross-chain swap. More private and efficient than regular atomic swaps, and compatible with scriptless chains like Monero.
Secure messaging
Encrypted peer-to-peer messaging carries the order book and the cryptographic exchange between matched traders. No central relayer, no operator in between.
Light nodes enabled
Optionally, thin clients can read chain state from public Electrum nodes. No daemon to run, no full sync required. Bridges atomic swap security with everyday usability.
Trusted by traders around the world.
BasicSwap's order book is public and live. Read it in any browser, no install required.

No tokens. No investors. Just contributors.
Every line of BasicSwap is funded by the people who use it. It's the only funding model that keeps an open protocol free and sovereign.
